Age of Wal-Mart video response

After, or during, the video answer the following questions. 1. Give examples of how demand is shown in the video. 2. Give examples of how supply is shown in the video. 3. Give examples of how Wal-Mart is an efficient business. (How do they eliminate waste or insure that they can keep costs down to consumers?)

  1. 1. People like going there because they eliminate extra cost to keep the product at a cheaper price.
    2. They showed people trying to put there supplies on Wal-Mart's shelf.
    3. They keep records of what they have sold. Some of the items they put more on the shelf depending on the weather. In the video the suppliers said that everything goes smooth and they like it.

  2. 1. Demand is shown in this video by the companies that sell their product to walmart, and Walmart demands a lower price from them inorder to keep selling their product. 2. Supply is shown in the vidoe by the companies that supply Walmart with the things that they sell. 3. They are efficient because they always make sure that things are the same prices so that people can afford them, and when they travel and go to different hotel rooms the company owners and CEO shared rooms and bought cheap rooms because they were there to do work!

  3. Demand is shown in the video when wal-mart demands products from other companies, but will pay them less to sell their product because wal mart is so popular. Supply is shown when the people with the wall hanging things sell their product to wal-mart to sell. Thousands of companies came in trying to sell their product, and wal mart only chose a few to put on their shelves. A part where they are efficient is when the CEO shares a hotel room. They don't want to waste the money on two hotel rooms when they can just share one. Another way they are efficient is when they don't pay the suppliers as much as they demand, so they are saving money.

  4. 1. The demand for products are very high at wal-mart because the prices for everything are fair and cheap prices. 2. They showed suppliers going to Bentonville to meet with the head people at Wal-Mart and to show them their products to try to get Wal-Mart to put their product on their shelves. 3. They showed us their non-stop conveyer belt that constantly moves boxes to the trucks they needed to go to. They also said that the CEO's share hotel rooms when they are on a trip.

  5. They are efficient with their product by using the computer system. They can guess when and where a certain product will sell best and also where at in the store. The computer helps with efficiency so your not wasting products by putting them on the shelves when you don't need them.

They showed their supply by showing the manufacturing plants with the miles of assembly line.

I think they showed demand by showing the new wal mart opening in China. Many of the shoppers thought it was better than the market. The demand for a wal mart there was high.

  6. Wal-Mart has a high demand for the products because people want products at low prices, and you can buy more for less. The workers at Wal-Mart are like family to the people in the head office. Supply is at Wal-Mart is kinda different on how they pick what to sell. The supplier will go to the head office and they sit in a room no bigger then our classes room at CC, and have a meeting the Wal-Mart CEO's say yes or no. Wal-Mart workers are working 24/7 to get things on the shelf's and to keep prices low and the demand high. Wal-Mart is good on saving money and energy. They share beds in the hotel rooms and save with lighting at Wal-Mart shores.

  7. 1. There were a lot of people that needed to buy cheaper things at wal-mart to get by in life. There fore Wal-Mart had to make sure the prices were low so consumers still come for all their needs.

    2. Suppliers come to Bentonville* to pitch their ideas to Wal-Mart workers. Tons of people come in everyday in hopes of getting their product sold at Wal-Mart. They know the Wal-Mart is the nation's biggest store and they can sell their items. On the down side the suppliers may have to sell their items for less than they wanted.

3.Wal-Mart doesn't spend money on not needed things. The top people at Wal-Mart have ugly and blah offices. Also when they go on business trips they share rooms and get cheap hotels. They are there for business not luxury. Basically they make sure they can please with the bare minimum that they can, so prices can stay low.

  8. 1. People like going to Wal-Mart because they're always slicing prices and keeping prices low and affordable so they're demand is high.
    2. They showed suppliers going to Bentonville to meet with the head honchos of Wal-Mart to show them their products to try to get Wal-Mart to put their product on their shelves.
3.To make sure they don't have to raise their prices the CEO's have little offices that aren't all fancy. Like in Bentonville, the CEO has a tiny office. So instead of wasting money on a luxury office they use that money to make sure they keep prices low. They also sent productions over seas to make it so that their products can be made for cheap so they can sell them for cheap.

  9. 1. Demand is shown in the wall-mart video by selling their products for cheaper to keep wall-mart live. 2. Supply is shown by other companies allowing their own products to be purchased on wall-marts shelves to make more money. 3. wall-marts efficient because of what they offer at their low prices, also they keep a file of what has been sold and what is selling more of and less of. recently walmart made their own products called "great value" made for walmart profit.
